THE MEANING AND ORIGIN
The term Patola derives its meaning from Sanskrit word 'pattakulla', meaning silk fabric.It traces its origins to ancient weaving practices in India, especially in places like Gujarat and Karnataka. Patola sarees have been prized for centuries for their beautiful silk and intricate designs. The name "Patola" reflects both the luxurious silk used in these sarees and the detailed weaving techniques involved. Overall, "Patola" represents India's rich textile history, symbolising elegance, skill, and cultural heritage.
